Melanie qualified as a solicitor in 1999 and specialises in general commercial, IP/IT and digital media law. Her career has included private-practice experience at Eversheds and Addleshaw Goddard, but has mainly been in the in-house environment, notching up experience at GEC Alsthom, British Aerospace, Vertex, MyTravel Group and as General Counsel for Latitude Digital Marketing.
Paul is a solicitor at Lexis®PSL Commercial with over sixteen years of legal experience advising on and writing about various aspects of commercial, corporate and IT law. Paul trained at Veale Wasbrough (now Veale Wasbrough Vizards) and qualified at Osborne Clark where he specialised in corporate and venture capital law. He moved to Laytons in 2001 where he undertook a broad spectrum of work in general commercial law (including IT law), corporate law and venture capital law. Paul, who speaks fluent French, acted for a technology start up company in the Alps (in 2013) as a commercial consultant where he was also able to indulge his passion for skiing and French-style queue-jumping. When he’s not in the Alps, he’ll be in the Lake District up a hill, getting rained on. A lot.
Helen studied in Cardiff, York, Passau and Freiburg and qualified as a solicitor in 1998 after training to be a solicitor at Allen & Overy in London and Frankfurt. After she qualified, she spent over six years working in-house at Centrica plc and Palm Europe Limited focusing mainly on consumer, advertising and data protection law before returning to private practice at Stevens & Bolton in Guildford where she was a senior associate in the corporate and commercial team. She worked for a legal publisher between 2008 and 2012 and is now a solicitor in the LexisPSL Commercial team. Her main areas of expertise are general commercial law, advertising law and consumer law. Outside work she runs a lot and is a coach, child welfare officer and newsletter editor for her running club.
Jon is a solicitor at Lexis®PSL Commercial with over ten years’ experience of advising on commercial and IT matters most recently at CMS Cameron McKenna in London. On qualification, he joined Bates Wells Braithwaite where he advised a range of businesses on matters including agency, distribution, software licensing and outsourcing. He then took six months out to travel and, on returning to the UK, joined the in-house legal team at The Rank Group Plc before returning to private practice in the technology team at CMS. Outside law, Jon’s interests include scuba diving, both in the UK and abroad, and following the highs and lows of his lifelong rugby team, Bath.
Rachel is a solicitor in the Lexis®PSL Commercial team with over eight years’ experience of working in leading commercial law firms. During this time, Rachel has acquired broad experience in practice areas such as corporate/commercial, insolvency and commercial property. Most recently, Rachel has practiced as a family lawyer in the top tier family team at Weightmans LLP where she advised high net-worth individuals including business owners, professionals and footballers. This experience has given Rachel a firm understanding of business and industry as well as an acute awareness of the knowledge management needs of today’s commercial practitioner.
