The legal landscape is changing faster than ever. But rather than being daunted by the scale of the change, now is the time to embrace the opportunity it brings – the ability to streamline and improve working practices at a personal and firm-wide level. Time is a precious commodity in the legal industry.
Speed, accuracy and efficiency are the watchwords of today’s legal landscape but learning new processes, often in isolation (and then trying to use them all one after the other), can be overwhelming. There are plenty of tools – from automation and digitisation to intelligent technology – that are intended to free up lawyers to focus on their work, however a significant amount of time can be lost in navigating the very systems that were designed ‘to help’. Different logins, interfaces, systems and workflows can all make even straightforward tasks seem insurmountable, or at least tedious and time-consuming.
That’s why, as part of LexisNexis’ mission to provide simple solutions for the legal industry, we recently partnered with DocuSign to launch an efficiency measure that streamlines the document signing process down to a few clicks. By removing unnecessary, complex steps and stages, and working collaboratively – we can help law firms to evolve.
DocuSign, the industry-leading electronic signature solution, is now available within our multi-award winning drafting and proofreading tool, Lexis Draft, meaning that the process of adding an electronic signature to a document is reduced from more than ten potential steps to only two. There’s no moving backwards and forwards between applications, instead lawyers can simply access DocuSign from their Lexis Draft toolbar, directly within Microsoft Word.
Change – even when beneficial – can be met with resistance. But as law firms are increasingly gathering the confidence to innovate, now is the right time to look outside individual products and tasks to the wider picture. To implement real, valuable, change which really does make every day practice more simple, every day.
