Moving forwards, some legal service buyers are excited to see if technology will develop in parallel with their needs. But it’s the interpersonal sphere where the real “magic” might lie; in the alchemical success of law firms and clients working together to create solutions.

In the coming years, many believe it will be beneficial for law firms and clients to find new ways of working together, closely and effectively. Perhaps even using new technologies. Gone are the days where law firms and clients work separately; co-creation is the way forward.

Ultimately, law firms need “to get under the skin” of their clients to understand what really adds value and build a solid relationship based on that. “Deep knowledge of the business is what really breeds loyalty,” according to Richard Harris, Chief Legal Officer at Robert Walters Group.
